Paraiba "Coffee Valley"
Coffee has been cultivated in the Paraiba Valley since 1761. This was a booming plantation area in the late 19th century.
You will sojourn in authentic coffee plantation fazendas (elegant farm/ranch) and savour the traditional gastronomy of the region.
The Fazenda União, is an authentic fazenda dating back to 1836 and restored to its former glory. It is an oasis of peace where you can relive the typical lifestyle of the famous coffee barons in a magnificent rural location and taste the delicious specialties of the region. There is a pool, possibility of horse rides and a small lake for fishing.
** Pousada:Less anonymous than a hotel, pousadas were originally guest houses. Whether they are located in old colonial buildings or in more recently constructed buildings, they usually offer a warm welcome and authentic atmosphere. The standing can vary from very simple to the most refined.
**Fazenda:Formerly large rural properties, many fazendas have been reconverted into guest houses. Their hosts usually try to make history come alive using original furnishings, illustrating past events, and offering traditional local gastronomy. They are usually a great place to discover local fauna and flora by foot or on horseback.
